Anzac Services
These two important event went
off well with our school service on Friday followed by the town's dawn service on Sunday. The school service began with senior student Rex
Petersen lowering the flag to half mast and then Hunterville RSA president
Maureen Fenton gave an interesting address. Wreaths were laid by the RSA, Head
Boy/Girl, and then by whanau leaders accompanied by representatives from each
room.
Then it was the Last Post,
one minutes silence and Reveille as the flag was raised.
Head Girl Claudia Hodgson
recited "For The Fallen" and Head Boy Ryan Stewart "In Flanders
Field."
The National Anthem was sung
to the accompaniment of Mr Wilce and trainee bag-pipers Amber, Jenny, Patrick,
Jade and Fiona.
At the town service a large number of students marched to the cenotaph for the service, where Ryan and Claudia again laid a wreath on behalf of the school.
Year 8 student JACK WEBB played a major role in the success of the service, being in charge of the sound system. This included ensuring the sound was right for the microphone, and juggling computer laptops and compact discs for the playing of the National Anthem, The Last Post and Reveille. Many people commented on a difficult job, done extremely well by Jack.
