SCHOOL RESUMES 9am TUESDAY 3 FEBRUARY: We start off with the usual assembly in the hall at 9am. Parents are most welcome to attend. We'll have a few brief welcomes and then teachers will announce their classes and students will leave the hall with their teacher.
STATIONERY LISTS for 2015: Please find them under the WEEKLY NEWSLETTERS menu on the right hand side of this page
OFFICE OPEN: Officially from 11am until 3pm Friday 30th January and Monday 2nd February, although you can take pot luck outside of these hours as one of us is likely to be about. Once school starts office hours are 8.30am to 3.15pm.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and iPads/Computers at School: Please refer to details in the December weekly Newsletters. In summary: ALL Year 6-8 students this year will have either an ipad or laptop computer for their 1:1 use. The school will provide these. IF parents choose to apply for their child to bring their own device this year, that is great, but their are more restrictions around what apps/programmes will be permitted to be brought to school on privately owned devices. The school continues to offer subsidies and time payments for Year 7/8 students whose parents wish to purchase an ipad. Again, please refer to the December weekly newsletters for more info on this.
A couple of scenarios for you ...
Scenario 1. A Year 6-8 child has a privately purchased ipad (or even a school subsidised ipad from a year ago) loaded with the likes of Facebook, Snapchat, Clash of the Clans and other miscellaneous games... Parents can choose to take those apps off and send that ipad to school OR parents can choose to keep those apps on and keep the ipad for home use. The child will be given a school ipad or computer for their 1:1 use at school each day.
Scenario 2. A Year 7/8 child has a school subsidised ipad from the current scheme (Dec 2014/Feb 2015).... Therefore this ipad comes to school every day for the students sole use and only has loaded school approved apps and programmes.
