Hunterville Town Library Moves to School
The weather was not kind to us today and we were unable to go ahead with getting the whole school out to be part of a human chain to move all the books from the Town Hall to school. Instead though, a good number of community members supported by parents and senior students moved the books out of the town hall and up to school by car amongst the light drizzle that was about for most of the day. Pictured here is the finale of the official opening ceremony held in the school hall. MRS JEAN ENGLAND with over 30 years of outstanding service and leadership of the town library holds an end of the ribbon along with our youngest student HAWAIIKI TATTERSALL-WALKER, as Rangitikei Mayor Andy Watson prepares to cut the ribbon and declare the new facility open.

Friday's Harvest Festival was a fun event held in perfect weather. Good numbers of scarecrows, pumpkins and sunflowers made for a great backdrop with all the other fun events on offer. As popular as ever was the DUNKING MACHINE with the photo here taken beside the dunkees looking towards the dunkers! It looksa as though Jack Goodwin has just hit the mark and the happy crowd await the dunking!!

Hunterville Consolidated School opened on 28th September 1887 with a roll of 40 pupils. A secondary department was established at the school in 1912 and this operated until 1929 ...
