New Speed Signs Unveiled
We had a little bit of pomp and ceremony yesterday when we opened/unveiled the new 40km/hr signs outside the school. Rangitikei Mayor Andy Watson spoke as did deputy mayor (and Hunterville councillor) Dean McManaway and it was he who officially unveiled the new signs along with Meg Marshall. Meg of course was the chair of our SOS (Speed Outside School) committee last year, largely responsible for pushing our case with the Rangitikei District Council through to a successful conclusion. That very impressive, most effective student committee comprised Meg, Bridgette Manunui, Fiona Collie and Hannah Williams who were all present yesterday, as well as Grace Godfrey who unfortunately wasn’t able be with us.

This group of rugby players won the Wanganui provincial Year 5/6 Rippa Rugby tournament on Wednesday and earn the right to represent Wanganui at the national tournament to be held in Wellington in mid September. Coached by Dave Munn, this team are undefeated at their two two qualifying tournaments to date (at Taihape and Wanganui). The team as pictured here are: Back: Mr Shane Smith (Head of Sport) and Mr Dave Munn (coach). Standing: Macca Williams, George Simpson, Zane Munn, Oscar McVerry, Will Turner. Hunterville Consolidated School opened on 28th September 1887 with a roll of 40 pupils. A secondary department was established at the school in 1912 and this operated until 1929 ...
